The lower end of Drake street is now Trams and Buses only and you will need to turn right into River Street which will take you to South Parade where you turn left. From Bury and Heywood
You have 2 ways to get to Rochdale from Bury. One will take you past the M66 turnoff and through the centre of Heywood. The other will miss Heywood town, passing it to the North and taking you directly to Rochdale.
To go via Heywood and the M66 Junction take the A58 from Bury passing under the M66 at a roundabout and continue into Heywood centre. Once in Heywood centre keep with the A58 bearing left at the road fork by the large church in town centre. After 2 miles you will arrive at the junction of the A58 and the A664 where you turn left heading for Rochdale town centre. As you drop down a fairly long hill towards Rochdale centre keep an eye open for "The Esplanade" on your right at a the foot of the hill and with a set of traffic lights.
Turn right into the esplanade and the town hall is ahead and on your right.
To bypass Heywood centre take the B6222 from Bury passing Fairfield General Hospital on you right. Stay with the B6222 until you cross the A6060 and go down College road.
Cross the A58 into Newgate and you will find the town hall in front of you when you reach the bend to the right.

By Train
Rochdale railway station is within walking distance from the town hall but if the weather is inclement then there is a tram stop opposite the station. (see below).

By Metrolink
The Metrolink tram service now extends to Rochdale town centre with the terminus just a very short distance from the Town Hall.
The line used is the one that passes through Oldham and it takes about 50 minutes for the journey from Manchester Victoria to reach the Rochdale terminus.
The stop before the terminus is at the railway station so train users could use this short link instead of walking from the station if the weather is unpleasent.

Parking
Rochdale Council has now changed its parking limits
It used to be free all day Saturday and Sunday but now only the first 3 hours are free on the Saturday, Sunday is still free all day.
You always need to obtain and display a ticket and if you intend to stay longer than 3 hours on a Saturday then you need to pay at the parking meter at the time of arrival. You cannot top up the parking fee later.
Currently it is £2-80p to park between 6 and 10 hours and less for shorter periods. See here for the full list of parking charges.

If the town hall car parks are full then there are further car parks to be found nearby by turning up Packer street at the left and rear of the main parking area.
