Pen-y-Ffordd
As featured in Railway Modeller December 2009 issue
Ex Heywood Model Railway Group model now owned privately by Geoff Lord

Pen-Y-Fford was the Heywood Model Railway Group's 7mm Narrow gauge model and is now owned by Geoff Lord who was one of the original builders of the layout.
It was completed at the end of August 2001 just in time for its first outing on the exhibition circuit.
It was well received at the Todmorden Exhibition and several other booking followed from that, its first time out.

While attending an invitation to be exhibited at the 7mm Narrow Gauge Societies A.G.M and Convention the model won the the "Best In Show" award.
Also at the Bradford Model Railway Exhibition 2003 it has scooped two awards. These being the "Chairmans Trophy" and the "Best In Show" award voted for by the public.
An article has also appeared in the narrow gauge magazine giving detail of the extended version currently being built.
Our 7mm section is a thriving part of the club so if you are interested in joining then sent an e-mail to the Heywood Model Railway Group Secretary Roger Bottomley or call in and see us on a Monday evening?

The Small extension panel fitted to what used to be the station dead-end has made a terrific difference to the model giving a real impression of distance.
Visible between the main line and the siding is the trophy that was won at the "Narrow Gauge" Convention and A.G.M.
Looking down the lane on the new extension piece to the station.
Again the Trophy is visable to the right.

.A link panel has now been created to join Penn-y-Ffordd to Pen-y-Bont seen in the distance. This will enable both the clubs own layout to be connected to one of our members own models to give an overall larger layout.

This is a close up of the connecting panel that links the two layouts.
Pen-y-Bont is to the left and Pen-y-Ffordd is off to the right.

The model was "retired" from being an official club layout in September 2009 and was purchased by Geoff for use as a private layout to link to his new "Pen-y-Bont" model. It is quite likely that it may be still exhibited by Geoff in the linked up form with some sections of Pen-y-Ffordd connected to Pen-y-Bont.
